MeggieSoft Games Piquet is a comprehensive implementation of the highly-regarded poster halt dating back to the 15th century. Play against an online adversary or against your computer. There are many customizable graphic, go (including MIDI music and lecture output), ruler and scoring options. Six different computer opponents are available for when you are unable to catch online, or but want to exercise privately.
Piquet is a halt of exchanging cards, declaring combinations, and playing tricks with the object of scoring more points than your adversary. Each halt, or "partie", comprises 6 rounds. Piquet is one of the oldest poster games and is widely regarded to be the finest and most challenging poster halt ever devised for two players.
Each round starts by the players exchanging some of their cards with fresh cards from the "talon" (the stock). The annunciation phase follows during which the players effort to out bid each other's Point (longsighted suit), Sequences (runs) and Sets (trine or foursome of the same glaring). The winner in each category heaps points for the winning annunciation and any additional sequences or sets, respectively. Finally the cards are played as tricks, with points awarded for leading and capturing tricks.
The challenge of Piquet is to equilibrise the interchange, the declarations and the prank winning in enjoin to own the maximum advantage over the adversary. Special bonuses exist in both the annunciation and prank phases for the artful player.
